Why most cats and dairy do not mix

Adult cats often lose much of the enzyme needed to digest lactose, which is why cow’s milk and many dairy products lead to gas, cramping, and diarrhea. Kittens may tolerate specially formulated kitten milk replacers, but for healthy adult cats, water and a complete cat diet are safer than routine dairy treats.
